About Lochgreen Hotel, Ayrshire

Until 1989 Lochgreen House was a family home. Built in 1905 for the Morton family, wealthy lace mill owners, the house has a colourful history. During the second world war Lord Morton and his RAF regiment occupied the house and in the 1950's Group Captain MacIntyre and his family lived here. He was the first man to fly over Mount Everest and the founder of our local Prestwick Airport.

Bill and Cath Costley bought the house in 1989 and over the years it has grown into one of Scotland's finest hotels. In previous years voted Scotland's Hotel of the Year by the AA and also by the Scottish Licensed Trade Association it is the flagship of our Company.

Lochgreen House is an ideal base for golfing holidays, situated parallel to Royal Troon Championship Golf Course and with three other municipal courses in Troon alone you can always be sure of availability. Turnberry and Old Prestwick are also a short drive away. We offer storage and drying facilities for equipment with information on all local courses available from our concierge.

Lochgreen House is just a few minutes' drive away from Glasgow Prestwick Airport and therefore ideal for domestic and European connections.

Meet the Team

Gordon Shaw - General Manager

The hospitality industry played a big part in Gordon's life from a very young age. Growing up around the family run Chestnuts Hotel in Ayr gave Gordon a taste of hotel life that has stayed with him. The family sold the hotel in 1999 when Gordon was only 13 years old and too young to work in the hotel. At the age of 17, Gordon applied for a job at Costley & Costley's newest venture at the time, Ellisland Hotel in Ayr. From then on Gordon regularly worked within the various Costley & Costley hotels whilst still attending School.
Upon leaving School, Gordon moved to Stirling for four years to complete an Honours Degree in Accounting and Finance. During his Summer break from University, Gordon worked with the Intercontinental Hotel group in Hilton Head Island, South Carolina during Summer 2005 and 2006.
Upon graduation from University, Gordon realised his passion for hospitality had not left him and approached Bill Costley for a full time position. Gordon started his full time career with Costley & Costley as Assistant Manager at Highgrove in July 2008 and was promoted to General Manager in January 2009. Two years later, Gordon was promoted to his current post as General Manager at Lochgreen and with the team has helped achieve awards such as Scottish Hotel Group of the Year 2011 and Lochgreen's Five Star status.

Craig Harvie - Deputy General Manager

Very much a local boy, Craig attended both primary and secondary school in Troon gaining qualifications in English and Geography. Upon leaving school, Craig had not yet decided what career path to take so when the chance of a part time job at Lochgreen House arose he took the opportunity. At this stage, Craig did not realise that he was about to embark on an 11 year career in the hospitality industry which would see him rapidly rise through the ranks of Lochgreen, holding positions such as Bar Manager, Restaurant Manager (at both Lochgreen and the prestigious Frognal House), Function Manager and Food and Beverage Manager. Craig currently holds the position of Deputy Manager within Lochgreen.
It's fair to say Craig has really grown up with Costley and Costley. He met his partner during this time and has two lovely children that he is very proud of. He continues to grow as an individual and is a firm favourite among regular visitors.

Kathleen McLeod - Deputy General Manager

Starting life as a forces child, traveling to different places and meeting new people was always a way of life for Kathleen.
Upon leaving school Kathleen started working in the retail business for a TV Rentals Company and after a couple of years took the opportunity to try waitressing at a local hotel.
Upon deciding that the Hospitality industry was to be her chosen career path, Kathleen started work at Seamill Hydro while studying hospitality Management at Reid Kerr College and attending night classes to increase her knowledge within the industry. During this time she was given the opportunity to work at Turnberry Hotel for a season and Kathleen found her passion for 5 star hospitality. Training at Turnberry during its 'hay day' gave Kathleen a fantastic knowledge of Food and Beverage service.
After several years at Turnberry, Kathleen took the decision to move to The Old Course Hotel in St. Andrews and latterly Cameron House at Loch Lomond upholding senior Food and Beverage roles at both and learning the different styles within the '5 Star circuit'.
Following these roles Kathleen decided to return to Ayrshire and took the position of Deputy General Manager at Enterkine Country House where she remained for seven years.
At this point Kathleen missed the big hotel environment and became Beverage Manager at Marr Hall in Glasgow. After working there for a year she successfully applied for the position of Deputy General Manager of Lochgreen House Hotel.

Jordan Annabi - Head Chef

Jordan prides himself on using the best produc from Scotland's larder and pushing the culinary boundaries within Ayrshire. Jordan originally joined the team at Lochgreen in 2005 as a Commis Chef and during his time at Lochgreen he worked extremely hard gaining knowledge and experience on every section of the kitchen. By 2009 he had become Sous Chef in our 3 rosette restaurant, one of only a few in Scotland.
Encouraged by Executive Chef Andrew Costley to gain international experience, Jordan was sent to France to work in at Le Jardin Des Ramparts in Beaune, Burgundy and then went on to work six months consecutively at Number One Restaurant at the Balmoral Hotel in Edinburgh (1 Michelin Star) and then Mid Summer House in Cambridge (2 Michelin Star). During this time he was offered a job at Roussillon Restaurant in Chelsea, London as Sous Chef. This position was to prove invaluable in one of the most vibrant and competitive cities in the world.
In 2011 Lochgreen was delighted to welcome Jordan back with the experience he had gained during his years away. On the back of those experiences and with his own innovative ideas Jordan has compiled a menu which is receiving rave reviews from our discerning clientele.
